1970 Plymouth Roadrunner 440

Intro

First Thoughts

Kit Quality

The actual kit quality is really very good, however there are some dumb mistakes that Revell made when researching this car. There are many chrome strips that are molded into the body that should NOT be there. I got an idea and checked out some '70 Satellite photos (Roadrunner is simply a stripped down Satellite with a bigger engine) and found the chrome strips to be there. I guess if you'd take the time to make a vinyl roof, you could have a nice looking Satellite with this kit. Also, the famous Roadrunner character decals for the sides are slightly wrong.

The Build

Final Comments
My Dad and I have always had a thing for Roadrunners, so as soon as I saw this kit, I picked one up. I do not regret it one bit. Save for some goofy research mistakes on Revell-Monogram's part, it looks to be a pretty nice kit.

The Stats

Manufacturer: Revell-Monogram
Status: On Hold
Paint/Finish: Primed with Krylon flat white, finished with Plastikote bright orange, and will be cleared with Krylon crystal clear.
Modifications: Detail painting, spark plug wiring, and coolant hoses.

Construction Shots
Engine shot.

Wheel shot. I really liked these optional wheels over the regular painted steel ones.

Interior shot.

Engine glued onto the rolling chassis. Notice the added plug wires.

Another angle.

Yet another engine shot.

One more... This time with the air filter on. Can you tell that I like this engine a little? :)
